China’s feed and frog industry players meet at the 2014 Hinter Symposium on Nutrition & Feed Technology of Fish & Shellfish (Frog)

Frog is a representative species in aquaculture, which can yield up to 750-900 tons per hectare. The Frog aquaculture industry grows very fast in the last decades for its high feed conversion ratio and easy to launch for the frog farmers. But the industry is facing some challenging issues now, such as how to improve the survival rate of frog farming and how to effectively reduce the feed costs and avoid the various risks from the frequent fluctuations of the market. What’s the future of frog aquaculture?

To discuss and address these issues, 2014 Hinter Symposium on Nutrition & Feed Technology of Fish & Shellfish (Frog) was held in Jingmin North Bay Hotel, Xiamen, China from 10-11 April 2014. It was organized by Guangzhou Hinter Biotechnology Co., Ltd, Guangdong Haid Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Research Center and co-organized by Wuhan Mingbo Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd.

6 executives of Guangdong Hinter Group Co., Ltd. gave presentations in the meeting including the president Dr. Yang Yong, the vice-president Dr. Zhang Song, technical service director Peng Zhidong, deputy technical director He Fen and Xiao Jianguang, and technical manager Huang Hao, Qiang Kejun, the marketing director of Wuhan Mingbo Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. also gave a talk. The fascinating presentations inspired all the guests.

In Dr. Yang Yong’s presentation on ‘Development status and trend of chain model of frog aquaculture industry’, he pointed out “you have to consider your company’s capability and resources you can use before you decide to extend in aquaculture production chain”. It fed the guests with new ideas about the production chain of frog industry.

Dr. Zhang Song focused on the subjects such as controlling points of preparing for the frog feed formula, the main factors that influence the processing, raw material quality control and effective substitutions to enhance frogs feed formulation.

In Dr. He Fen’s talk, she presented some practical methods for the quality control of the fishmeal, which were found to be very useful by a lot of enterprise representatives.

Huang Hao introduced that acid value, peroxide value and Kreis qualitative analysis could be successfully applied to oil quality control, and it’s worth to mention that Kreis qualitative analysis could be done in 10 minutes.
